A Nucleus (NUC) is essentially a starter colony of honey bees. <\/span>They are comprised of five frames which include pollen, nectar, brood in all stages, a laying queen along with a sufficient workforce of bees to support the growing colony.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

We produce NUCs and queens in the Spring from our own local stock of bees. Once taken home, the NUCs needs to be transferred into a standard 8 or 10 frame hive body. Our bees are inspected as part of state apiary inspection program by the NCDA&CS.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Our NUCs are usually ready for pick-up towards the last week of April and we continue to produce them until the end of May.\u00a0 <\/span>We usually sell out of NUCs every year, so pre-ordering is essential.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

We can produce NUCs using deep or medium frame sizes.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Frame size must be determined at the time of ordering.\u00a0 <\/span>Frames will be wooden and the foundation will be either crimped wire wax, wax coated plastic or a combination of the two. \u00a0All NUCs come in a plastic Pro-NUC box. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

To order NUCs, please fill out the NUC order form below and someone will get in touch with you to finalize your order.\u00a0 After I receive the order form, I will send you an email confirming your order. \u00a0A deposit of $50 per NUC will be required to complete the order. \u00a0If you do not receive an email, please contact me directly at nadeaufarmsnc@gmail.com\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Deep Frame NUCs are $200 and Medium Frame NUCs are $185. \u00a0We have a limited number of NUCs, therefore it is best to order early. \u00a0All queens are locally bred, mated and will be marked for no extra charge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n
